I walked into my meeting with Vernon with an idea of what I wanted in our wedding cake and walked out of there with a new design for him and I both. He had just bought some diamond shaped pans and asked if I was willing to let him try them on our cake. WOW... Am I ever happy I did that!! This cake was so beautiful and it was a very popular part of our wedding and pictures!! He told us it is now his favorite cake. The Sato lace he put on the top of each tier looked like a doily. The maroon and silver ribbons I picked made it pop with the way he put it on and the flower arrangements were very professional looking. He made the inside exactly how I wanted the layers..and no yucky fondant. Vernon used his skills to make the butter cream frosting look like fondant and hold the heavy layers together!! We would recommend him to everyone! He designed a 3-D fish cake for my father-in-laws birthday that happened to be on the same day! People are still talking about our cake!! Thank You Vernon.

Our wedding cake was nothing less than amazing! We were so thankful for Vernon's easy going attitude and willingness to do and help with whatever. I was more than pleased with our cake. It was so nice to be able to create our own cake. Everything I wanted, Vernon made it happen. Although our wedding was raining and windy our cake still looked great. It had to be modified after an hour into the reception, but it still looked amazing. I am so thankful for Vernon and his prices. There is NO where to find better tasting, looking and priced cake anywhere!

Vernon exceeded my expectations for my wedding cake. He was so easy to talk to and did everything exactly the way I imangined it. He was very professional and even did the flower arrangements on my cake! Everybody asked "Hey, who did your cake? It's BEAUTIFUL!" The cake tasted amazing and was the most beautiful cake I have ever seen. I really wanted fondant for the look of it,but it tastes horrible. Vernon has the skill to make the buttercream look like fondant and it tastes great! I have never seen such amazing work! Thanks Vernon!!!!!

If you're looking for wedding cake horror stories, go elsewhere. Come to Vernon if you want to have a really positive wedding cake experience from beginning to end. When I first met with him, I really wasn't sure what I wanted in a wedding cake. He was really helpful and worked with me to come up with the perfect cake for my wedding. The end product was beautiful and tasted wonderful! Not only that, but his prices are really reasonable and he doesn't make you feel pressured at all. He is very reliable and easy to work with. When the final order was placed, I didn't have to worry about the cake anymore--I knew Vernon had it under control. On the day of my wedding the cake arrived without a hitch and was just perfect. I would highly recommend "thecakeguy" to anyone who is interested in getting an incredible cake from an incredible guy without paying an outrageous price. Vernon was so easy to sit down and talk to. I was all over the place with ideas and he really helped narrow me down to a beautiful design that flowed so perfectly with the rest of our wedding. Vernon is a unique find in the Grand Junction/Western Colorado area. Renae had a vision of how our wedding cake should look long before meeting with Vernon. As a long time lover of Mickey Mouse, she knew she wanted to have the icon represented on our wedding cake. Vernon was a master in mixing a classic cake design along with the Mickey icon. The four different cake flavors we used in the wedding and groom's cakes were all amazing and delicious! The best part, we didn't want to wait to eat our wedding cake topper for our 1st anniversary, so we went back to Vernon 11 months later to have him recreate our wedding cake topper for our anniversary. He matched the original top almost perfectly! His work is and always has been professional in every way. You cannot go wrong with using Vernon for your wedding or any other occasion cake!

I can't say enough about how amazing Vernon was to work with! He was so patient while I looked through all of his albums because I just didn't know what I wanted! The cake that we came up with was so amazingly beautiful and delicious! We had planned on saving our cake top, but ended up eating it for brunch the day after the wedding. You wont find a better quality cake decorator anywhere in town!!

Vernon was WONDERFUL. We had a red velvet/lemon marble cake and vanilla with raspberry fillling. the cake was to die for because, not only was it moist, but full of flavor. The frosting was also perfect, not too sweet.

Vernon exceeded our expectations in every way. When we met with him the first time and looked through the albums we were impressed with the wide variety of cake styles so beautifully executed and the fact that he remembered fun details about the couples. Vernon was great at keeping in touch with us throughout the process. We were never left wondering what was going on. He created our dream cake from a combination of a picture in a magazine and something we drew and he did an amazing job. Even the way the cake table was arranged could not have been more beautiful. Lastly, as said so many times already, the cake and frosting were delicious! We received many compliments. We recommend Vernon to everyone we run into who is getting married or needs a special event cake.

For our wedding we wanted a cake that reflected Colorado and I went to every cake shop in town... None of them would sit down and work with us to design a cake, they just wanted us to pick one from the book. Vernon took the time to help design our dream cake without making us feel like we were wasting his time. The only thing better than how beautiful it was, is how wonderful it tasted! Fortunately we had leftovers and we ate it after every meal until it was gone! As someone else commented, Vernon doesn't use fondant which can taste bad, but the cakes are smooth they look even better than fondant! Thanks again Vernon for all your help for our big day!

Vernon was absolutely wonderful to work with on my wedding cake. He helped me with ideas but also used mine as well and it became a beautiful combination of his talent and what I wanted. He even created the best diabetic cake I have ever tasted. thecakeguy is just awesome!!!

Our daughter Lindsay, and her husband Ryan, got married in St. Lucia and wanted to have a cake with square layers and flowers in tropical colors for their reception. We had an idea of what we wanted, but Vernon made it so much easier and helped us bring everything together. He was so easy to work with. The cake was absolutely beautiful and it tasted wonderful. Not only does Vernon know what he's doing, but he loves it, and it shows in his work! We were so happy with the cake and everything he did for us. You're awesome Vernon!
